The Bureau of Indian Affairs awarded Indigenous Design Studio + Architecture with providing designs for three new Justice Centers located in Hopi, AZ, Mescalero, NM and Blackfeet, MT. Initially, the IDS+A team was tasked with developing a program, conceptual design and cost estimates equivalent to the 20% Schematic Design level. This was completed within a limited amount of time to demonstrate their capability of taking on a project of this size and scope. The driving force behind the design is restorative justice that embraces culture, local context and the community as a whole. IDS+A has since been awarded the project with Basic and Additional professional services up to Construction Administration; currently in the Programming Phase to refine the total square footage.
