The name Indigenous Design Studio reflects the four core values of the firm. These values include: quality, cost effectiveness, sustainability, and commitment to Native American communities.
The primary disciplines include Architecture, Project Management, Building Research, Interior Design, and Master Planning. Indigenous Design Studio was created to provide unique, sustainable and innovative designs for all Native American Tribes throughout the country, where they can be stimulated by the experience of the designs that encompass their natural surroundings while preserving their history and culture.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATORY PROCESS
At IDS+A, we use a Charette process throughout our planning process. This is used to explore possible solutions for challenging issues in a community, institution, facility or neighborhood in a short period of time. It is an intensive workshop or series of workshop sessions conducted “on site” in which participants gain an understanding of their shared community issues, infrastructure, historical precedents, and other resources so that design solutions can be considered and presented. Participants include design professionals, administration, staff, various stakeholders and community members. This collaboration allows the various groups of community members to contribute to creating a place that is responsive to their needs.
