Hopi Tribal Emergency Medical Services Building

The Hopi Tribe required an EMS substation to serve the western portion of the reservation. The design services for the project included programming to determine the space needs for the size of the facility during programming space adjacency and layout options were generated for discussions and review with the owner. Programming determined the most efficient way to layout the space to benefit the Emergency Medical Staff performance. The process also educated the design team about the goals and objectives of the staff and administration. IDS+A researched the project type and presented a precedent study to assist with determining the look and amenities for the building. A programming space matrix along with room data sheets explained the space requirements and equipment. This documentation informs the engineering disciplines into the design process. IDS+A provided basic services for this project and worked with the tribal offices, the tribal utility authority, neighboring facilities, BIA and Arizona Public Service (APS) to coordinate utilities and Hopi Tribe requirements. This project started construction in February 2019 and was completed in September 2020.
